With this the third issue of 2007, we complete the first volume of Journal of Children and Media (JOCAM). This has been an exciting and productive year: Over 50 submissions were received, over 90 reviewers from 20 countries participated in the review process, and we enjoyed a vibrant meeting during JOCAM's official launch at the International Communication Association Annual meeting in San Francisco in May 2007—celebrating the creation of this new shared space for the community of scholars and professionals concerned with children and media around the world.

Browsing over this year's 300 pages of stimulating scholarship published in JOCAM, we find work coming from different countries around the world: Bangladesh, India, Israel, Norway, South Africa, The Netherlands, UK, and USA. We related to topics ranging from: girls' studies, youth radio, parental monitoring and mediation, harm and effects, new technologies, television images, gaming, and more. The range of methodologies represented in this volume is impressive as well: ethnography, experimental design, survey, content analysis, critical feminist analysis, interviews. Our joint work has produced a truly varied shared space and unique intellectual forum for ideas and research findings. This is a strong start—and it raises our expectations for the upcoming second volume!

These achievements could not have been possible without the assistance of our publisher's team at Routledge offices in the UK: Jane Thurgood, Katherine Burton, Shelley Allen, Gemma Roche, Rebecca Vickerstaff, and Mel Cunningham. But most importantly, we are indebted to all of you, members of our scholarly community, who submitted articles and those who read the journal; to members of the Editorial Board who provide constant support and ideas; to those of you who regularly engage in intellectual exchange with us; and last but not least, to the many scholars from around the world who put a lot of effort in offering constructive reviews to all submitters to JOCAM. We are deeply grateful to the following reviewers:
