Journal editor's note

Welcome to the first issue of Studies in Australasian Cinema for 2016. This issue comprises a special collection entitled ‘Show, Don't Tell: Contemporary Screen Production Research’, edited by Susan Kerrigan and Craig Batty, drawing from once again from research and scholarship developed within the contexts of the Australian Screen Production, Education and Research Association (ASPERA). Susan and Craig published the first of their two-part special series of articles built around critical screen production scholarship for the second issue of volume 9 in 2015.

Also included in the current issue is the final selection of articles on ‘Distribution’, edited by Kirsten Stevens, Lauren Carroll Harris, and Greg Dolgopolov, following on from their edited collection of essays on the same topic for our 9.1 issue. The last of the articles from their ‘Festivals’ special section will appear in the final issue for 2016. This issue is rounded out by a small number of robust and lively general articles from Peter Kilpatrick, Susan Carter and Brenda Allen, and Darren Jorgensen, which will no doubt set the tone for critical engagement and discussions around screen texts and contexts in the coming year.

As always, please enjoy this issue of Studies in Australasian Cinema.
