Jean-Paul Sartre And Team Dynamics In Collective Sport

Abstract

On the subject of football, Serge Mésonès, former French international turned journalist, wrote that ‘the true miracle remains the birth of a great team; everything which could contribute to this deserves consideration. Whatever happens, the coach and his group will always form that tandem which Bella Guttman used to compare to a symphony orchestra and their conductor: there is a significant difference between the performance when Toscanini is conducting, and that when the conductor is mediocre’ (Mésonès 1992, 12). With the aim of better understanding the issues of such an assertion, in this article we will develop the theoretical elements that we began to tackle in the book Teaching Collective Sport in Schools (1999).1 This will involve clarifying, and going into detail on, some conceptions relating to the long journey that is the formation of a sporting group, exploring one scenario at a time.

Sobre el tema del fútbol, Serge Mésonés, antiguo jugador internacional francés que se convirtió en reportero, escribió que “lo que sigue siendo milagroso es el nacimiento de un gran equipo; todo lo que pueda contribuir a esto merece ser considerado. Pase lo que pase, el entrenador y su grupo siempre forman in tándem que Bella Guttman solía comparar con una orquesta sinfónica y su director: existe una diferencia importante entre la interpretación cuando dirige Toscanini, y cuando lo hace un director mediocre” (Mésonés 1992, 12). Con la intención de entender mejor las cuestiones de tal aserción, en este artículo desarrollaremos los elementos teóricos que empezamos a abordar en el libro “Teaching Collective Sport in Schools” (1999) [Título original, “L'enseignement des sports collectifs à l'école”]. Esto implica el clarificar, y dar detalles sobre algunas concepciones relacionadas con el largo viaje que es la formación de un grupo deportivo, explorando cada posibilidad una a una.

Zum Thema Fußball schrieb Serge Mésonès, ehemaliger französischer Nationalspieler und späterer Journalist, dass „das wahre Wunder ist und bleibt die Geburt eines großartigen Teams; alles, was dazu beitragen könnte, verdient Beachtung. Was auch immer geschieht, der Trainer und seine Mannschaft bilden immer das Tandem, das Bella Guttman mit einem Symphonieorchester und seinem Dirigenten verglich: Es gibt allerdings einen signifikanten Unterschied zwischen der Leistung eines Toscanini als Dirigenten und eines mittelmäßigen Dirigenten” (Mésonès 1992, 12). Mit dem Ziel dieses Beitrags, ein besseres Verständnis der Grundgedanken einer solchen Behauptung zu erlangen, werden wir die theoretischen Aspekte, die wir in dem Buch Teaching Collective Sport in Schools (1999) dargelegt haben, weiterentwickeln. Dies erfordert Klärungen und Detailanalyen von Konzeptionen, die in Verbindung stehen mit dem langwierigen Gruppenfindungsprozess im Sport. Hierzu werden verschiedene Szenarien nacheinander untersucht.

A propos du football, Serge Mésonès, ancien international français devenu journaliste, a écrit que « le vrai miracle demeure la naissance d'une grande équipe ; tout ce qui peut contribuer à cela mérite d'être considéré. Quoi qu'il advienne, l'entraîneur et son groupe formeront toujours ce tandem que Bella Guttman utilise pour le comparer à un orchestre symphonique et son chef : il existe une différence significative entre la performance de Toscanini lorsqu'il dirige et celles qui se produit quand le chef est médiocre » (Mésonès 1992, 12). Dans l'objectif de mieux comprendre les dimensions d'une telle affirmation, nous développons dans cet article les éléments théoriques que nous avons commencéà pointer dans le livre Teaching Collective Sport in Schools (1999). Cela suppose de clarifier et détailler certaines conceptions relatives au long voyage qu'est la formation d'un groupe sportif, en explorant un scenario à la fois.
