ABSTRACT
This paper compares the research on coaching supervision, carried out by Eve Turner and supported by Peter Hawkins in 2014, with the research done by Hawkins and Schwenk carried out in 2006. This research comparison shows that while there has been an enormous growth in the percentage of coaches having supervision, there is wide diversity across geographical areas and a great variety of arrangements in receiving supervision, its frequency and how much coaches pay for it. The paper concludes with recommendations for both the practice of coaching supervision and for further research in this field.

Peter Hawkins is the Professor of Leadership at Henley Business School and Chairman of Renewal Associates has been the leading pioneer of supervision in coaching and consultancy for over twenty years. He is also a global thought leader and bestselling author in the area of Team Coaching, leadership and leadership development.
Eve Turner is the holder of the prestigious EMCC Coach of the Year Award for 2015 and was one of the first 2 supervisors the EMCC accredited in Europe. Her background includes senior leadership in the BBC heading up a multi-million-pound operation with 250 staff, providing considerable experience of change and transformation. Eve works systemically, as coach, mentor, supervisor and facilitator, with groups and individuals and her interests in supervision led to her setting up the Global Supervisors’ Network (GSN) in early 2016. Hundred qualified and experienced supervisors of coaching, mentoring and consultancy around the world now take part in monthly, free virtual CPD sessions. Eve also does considerable writing in the field and volunteers for coaching professional bodies and charities.
