Patricia A. Banks
Patricia A. Banks (Harvard University Ph.D. & A.M./Spelman College B.A.) is Professor of Sociology at Mount Holyoke College. She studies culture and inequality with a focus on consumption and markets. Banks is the author of three books including Represent: Art and Identity Among the Black Upper-Middle Class (Routledge), Diversity and Philanthropy at African American Museums (Routledge), and Race, Ethnicity, and Consumption: A Sociological View (Routledge). Her forthcoming book, Black Culture Inc: How Ethnic Community Support Pays For Corporate America (Stanford University Press), examines how black cultural patronage functions as a form of diversity capital for businesses.
