When this paper was originally published online, there were various errors in capitalization, spelling and punctuation throughout the article. In many cases, these errors affected the meaning of the article. In addition, some of the blinded references to the author’s own publications had not been updated with the correct reference.

To correct these errors, the following changes have been made to the online version of the article:

  • The title’s punctuation has been corrected. The correct title is: ‘Governing street trading in contemporary cities. Anatomy of the policy instruments used by the City of Johannesburg in the post-apartheid era’.

  • Throughout the article, ‘city’ has been changed to ‘City’ where the term refers to the municipality rather than the urban area.

  • Throughout the article, in-text citations of blinded references to the author’s publications have been updated so that the correct publication is referenced.

  • The spelling of the author’s name in some of the in-text reference citations has been corrected to Bénit-Gbaffou.

  • Throughout the article, several minor corrections have been made to punctuation.

  • The reference to Endnote 7 in the list of notes has been corrected and now refers to Endnote 8.

  • Various changes have been made to the reference list to correct errors such as incorrect reference ordering and misspellings of the author’s name. Blinded references to the author’s publications have been updated.
