After 10 years of its existence, the International Journal of Culture and Mental Health is closing down.
The past decade has been fascinating for a number of reasons. Cultural psychiatry has come into its own and now forms a consistent part of the diagnostic manual in the USA as its role in the genesis, perpetuation and prognosis of various psychiatric disorders has been proved. Cultural psychiatry has become a major part of curricula in different parts of the world and, as a result of globalization and geo-political determinants, the movement of people and ideas is remarkable.
The decision to close the journal down indeed was tragic and does not reflect the number or quality of submissions the journal received. As you will see from the large list of papers in this final issue, it indicates that there is a need for a forum on the topic.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the regional editors, members of the editorial board, reviewers but above all the contributors for your support over the years.
