ABSTRACT
As the number of men who value individual tastes and styles increases, a systematic analysis of patterns, an eye-catching design element, needs to be performed in men’s suits. A total of 2,288 men’s patterned suit images were collected over 12 seasons from 2015 to 2020 from Vogue. Each pattern was classified according to their motif sources and reclassified into traditional and non-traditional to examine the trend. Cross-analysis and X2 test were performed to analyse the differences according to the season. As a result, the traditional patterns showed a strong presence in the fall season, and non-traditional patterns were found more in the spring season. There were significant differences between traditional and non-traditional patterns by season and types. Besides, examining the use of patterns by brand, those that frequently use traditional patterns were Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Dunhill, Versace, and Giorgio Armani in order.
