ABSTRACT

This study aims to find the various issues in India that affect NMT adaptation. Different variables and influential factors have been analyzed to determine the possible drawbacks that need to be addressed by the state. The infrastructure and planning for NMT adaptation are the significant issues affecting NMT transportation’s progress. A city or region-based investigation is required to evaluate the NMT issues at the pan-India level. The safety of NMT vehicle users also plays a significant role in increasing the adoption rate of NMT. The NMT transport system is the most vulnerable to fatal collisions and injuries in India. It exposes the absence of proper planning and infrastructure for a smooth transition to NMT. The issues from different regions need to be resolved based on various NMT-related strategies and policies set by the government. Finally, a lack of awareness to of NMT services also adversely affects the acceptability rate.
