Abstract

With a nod to the semiotic theory that was favored in the early 1970s, Fernando Pernes argues that an artwork by Roy Lichtenstein is a “linguistic sign,” negotiating the real-life image and its mechanical depletion. The focus is an exhibition of Lichtenstein’s sculptures, held at the Sonnabend Gallery in Paris.
