Barry is a town in the Vale of Glamorgan, southwest of Cardiff. Sir John Wolfe Barry (1836-1918) was one of the most prominent civil engineers of the late 19th century. Born in London, Barry adopted Wolfe as part of his surname in 1897 following his knighthood. Barry Docks are named after the parish and island of Barry and not the man. Barry occurring here in two senses is a coincidence.
