ABSTRACT
The creation of the latest security pact, AUKUS, raises questions about the relevance of the quadrilateral security dialogue or Quad for India in countering Chinese aggression. This paper explains how the two institutions work in tandem in collaboration with the larger US strategy under the Pacific Deterrence Initiative aimed at countering Chinese expansion in the Indo-Pacific region, and therefore also support India in adopting a tough position with regard to Chinese aggression along its Himalayan border.
