ABSTRACT
Determining the optimal area of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) production under protected cultivation can maximize the efficiency. Thirty-eight cucumber growers who use greenhouses for production were chosen through a simple random sampling method and provided questionnaires from which data were extracted. The results, and econometric tests, indicated that the Cobb–Douglas function was best for fitting relationships between inputs used to determine optimum cucumber greenhouse area, which was 10.5 ha. This is the area of cucumber under greenhouse cultivation that should not be exceeded so that the efficiency and returns can be optimized.
