Jungian analyst Katherine Olivetti and artistic weaver Susan Gangsei discuss how learning to weave and a subsequent artistic endeavor as a weaver was the way Gangsei coped with her husband’s experience of Parkinson’s.

Katherine Olivetti

SUSAN GANGSEI, MBA, MA, is an artist and author who resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her MBA from the University of Minnesota and her MA in industrial relations from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. She was employed in marketing for thirty years in various roles, including director of marketing. She has written two books, The Light in the Middle of the Tunnel: Harrowing but Hopeful Stories of Parkinson’s Family Caregivers and Stuck with It, Not in It: Redefining Life with Parkinson’s Disease. She has received commissions and has exhibited her tapestries in various galleries and faith-based institutions. She maintains a website at www.susangangsei.com. Correspondence: [email protected].

KATHERINE OLIVETTI, MA, MSSW, is a Jungian analyst who practices in Woodside, California, and is editor of Jung Journal: Psyche & Culture. She is a member of the C. G. Jung Institute of San Francisco and the New York Association of Analytical Psychology. She graduated from Columbia University and the C. G. Jung Institute of New York, where she also served as president. She was on the faculty of the Child Study Center at Yale University Medical School, where she taught and supervised postgraduate fellows. Olivetti has a longstanding interest in creative process and feminine psychology. She maintains a website at www.katherineolivetti.com.
