Abstract
Rapidly developing legal and societal changes are influencing how we conceptualize families. This paper explores the inner experience of some lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people as they move toward developing families of their own making. The issues include how the coming out experience affects the experience of the self and the relationship to parenting as well as how the move from a couple to a family affects the inner and interpersonal worlds.
