Spring forward

, MSc, MD, FRCPC, DFAPA (Editor-in-chief)

The spring annual meeting of AGLP: The Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists—Journal of Gay & Lesbian Mental Health’s (JGLMH’s) sponsoring society—held in New York City this year in conjunction with the APA conference, was a significant occasion for me, as it was my last such meeting as the Journal’s editor-in-chief. AGLP has long had a mandate for the support and promotion of academic work in the field of LGBTQ+ mental health, and the Journal has been one of the primary vehicles of this mandate along with AGLP’s extensive educational programs, coordinating the submission of panels on LGBTQ+ mental health at APA meetings as well as other academic meetings throughout the world.

In addition to the kind words received from many about the progress of the Journal over the last number of years, I was gratified also to see the sincere interest in continuing the work of the Journal from others in the society as we pursue the transition plan for the editorial team. Many of AGLP’s medical student, resident and early-career members expressed a desire to get more involved with the Journal and this is an auspicious sign for the ongoing longevity of JGLMH. Look shortly for new additions to our team to reflect this interest.

In this penultimate issue of my final volume, you will notice an additional heft to the print issue, as we and the publisher address a backlog of online-published studies yet to make their way into a print version of record. These adjustments to our print quotas are a part of the tremendous growth of the Journal over which I have been proud to preside. I hope you will enjoy the read.
