Security Laws and Challenges in Nigeria: The Boko Haram Insurgency

Abstract

This article examines security laws and their challenges in Nigeria focusing Islamic Fundamentalist, the Boko Haram with a view to appraising its destructive activities, interventions from Nigeria and International community. Primary and secondary sources of information premised on qualitative, quantitative, and systemic theory models were adopted. It was found that problems of insecurity and Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria arose from poor governance featuring injustice, poverty, corruption, unemployment, among other factors. The conclusion is that solutions to the problems cannot be attained by force alone but through effective governance capable of ensuring transparency, justice, and genuine dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
