This paper examines the iterative process of the review and publication process through the lens of rejected papers. Taking into consideration feedback from reviewers, the refinement of purpose, and the need for greater clarity, we walk readers through the process of taking three previously rejected papers through to eventual publication. The paper ends with recommendations for early-career scholars on how to approach the writing and revision aspect of academic publications.
