Abstract

This study investigates university students' perceptions of the risks associated with traveling to different regions of China and examines the effects of five risk factors (criminal, health, political, terrorism, and disaster) on their overall perceptions of risk in the region. Furthermore, the relationship between overall perceived risk and intention to visit the region is explored. The results reveal that different types of risk factors are associated with different parts of China. University students consider western China to be the riskiest travel destination of the four economic regions in the country.
