ABSTRACT
This editorial paper provides some contextual knowledge for readers to have a better understanding of the issues covered in the special issue articles. A brief review of the evolution of tourism research in China was provided first, followed by some discussions of pertinent issues like research grants, journal publications, researcher generational shift, and overseas researchers’ involvement in China tourism studies. This paper also briefs on some critical issues and challenges facing China tourism research and introduces the articles included in the special issue.

本编辑评论文章为读者更好地理解特刊中收录的文章提供必要的背景知识。文章首先对中国旅游研究的发展演变进行了简要回顾;之后对相关议题如研究资助、期刊发表、研究者的代际交替、及海外学者对中国旅游研究的参与进行了讨论。本文也简要讨论了中国旅游研究面对的关键问题与挑战,并引介了特刊中收录的文章。
