Normalizing the Mathematical Model of a Distribution Curve Based on the Power Function's Rational Expression

Abstract

Normalized mathematical models with 4 or 5 parameters were developed to characterize distribution (Tromp) curves based on the Edgeworth-Kapteyn generalized normal distribution. The basic structure of g(x) that is in the Edgeworth-Kapteyn generalized normal distribution was the power function's rational expression. The models were found to be satisfactory for three groups of a dense-medium cyclone distribution data and five groups of a water-only cyclone distribution data, and, in most cases, they were preferred over the arctangent model and the modified hyperbolic tangent model.
