ABSTRACT
Every individual should be provided with opportunities to self-express through participation in art activities. In order to provide independent exploration and creativity during art, it may be necessary to adapt art tools, modify how the activity is accomplished, and examine the environment to determine the best methods to provide access. Simple tools created from readily available materials and easy project modifications can allow increased independence in completion of art activities. Drawing from their experiences working with art educators and students with significant disabilities, the authors collaborated to create a an inexpensive Adapted Repurposed Tool (ART) kit designed to assist students to hold, reach, and manipulate art materials
