¹ Parkour and art du déplacement (the art of displacement) look similar but are different ways of moving over, on, through or around obstacles (walls, fences, railings, buildings) and surfaces in the city based on movements developed from an obstacle training course used by firefighters in France, Lisses.

² I have chosen the term ‘breakin’’, instead of ‘b-boyin’ which is the preferred term, because this places emphasis on the idea of how one might break with convention.

³ ParkourDance is a professional performance company that combines parkour and contemporary dance. They also offer workshops for over-65 seniors that combine yoga and parkour.
