Abstract
Against the background of low-carbondesign, the paper proposes that a proper low-carbon design should be chosen in accordance with local climate conditions, geographical features and economical conditions when ecological residence design is employed in Nanjing area. The paper especially discusses low-cost feasibility methods which utilise passive design to improve ventilation, lighting, thermal insulation of the ecological residence. The strategy can reflect the geographical features, effectively reduce the construction cost of ecological residence, as well as conform to the local economical development.
