Abstract
Settlement calculations have always been an important component in the design of composite foundations. Based on simple theories and concise equations, the stress divergence approach has become one of the most common methods for calculating settlements. The values of stress diffusion angles have always been a popular research subject. Focusing on stress diffusion angles, three full-scale tests were performed in Tianjin soft soil areas. Combined with numerical simulation methods, which were verified by field tests, the bearing and settlement characteristics of the PTC (prestressed thin-wall concrete) pile composite foundation were studied. Through numerical simulation tests, the influence of pile length, pile spacing, thickness of cushion, embankment height and geological conditions on diffusion angles were indicated, and the influence laws were proposed. A calculation method of diffusion angles was proposed. Through indoor model tests, the method was verified and improved. The analysis results have a certain reference significance in engineering practice.
