“In a gentle way, you can shake the world”.

Mahatma Gandhi

As I write this, Anchorage is still recovering from a 7.0 earthquake on 30 November 2018, with almost 3,000 aftershocks and still counting. We are fortunate and grateful that there have been no fatalities, and that structural damage for most buildings, both public and private, has been minimal. That said, it has been a real test for our shared infrastructure, and some roads and public buildings will be under repair for months to come.

These kinds of extreme natural events remind us of our place and role(s) in the world, and they help us gain perspective, too. As we approach the end of the calendar year, it is once again time to highlight and appreciate the shared efforts of the dedicated many who comprise the shared infrastructure of this peer-reviewed journal. We literally could not do it without you!

In their quiet, behind the-scenes way, the many scholars, practitioners and academics who have stepped up to be reviewers have helped us collectively raise the quality of our shared knowledge base. Together, we have published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in this annual issue, including original research, case reports, theory and methods, short communications and review articles, and we anticipate at least one Special Issue with guest editors in the year ahead. I encourage all potential authors to review our Guidance for Authors and to consider submitting your own excellent work in 2019.

In the meantime, all authors and reviewers who have contributed to the Journal in 2018 have helped to “shake the world” of our past foundation of knowledge, shedding new light and insights into our shared understanding of a dynamic and always shifting world. Thank you to all. Please see below for the list of reviewers who deserve our shared gratitude for their efforts.

I would also like to acknowledge our Deputy Editors who have helped skilfully shepherd several manuscripts to publication:
