Abstract
A bulk of indicators enjoy diverse effects in residential energy consumption; hence, not only physical indicators but also socio-economic as well as local climate characteristics should take into account in terms of achieving energy efficiency. In other words, these factors besides the appropriate technological applications can highly result in a more energy efficient urban development. Accordingly, the aforementioned criteria including their sub-criteria are surveyed in this paper regarding to two neighbourhood in Tehran as a case study. The aim of the research is to analyze and define the correlation among different criteria in the neighbourhood, concerning their impacts on urban energy demand. This paper shows that how and to which extent physical, socio-economic and local climate characteristics can be influential in urban energy consumption in the case of two neighbourhood in Tehran city. In addition, it also assert the impacts of planning and design procedures on urban energy consumption rate.
