Abstract
The first part of this paper considers the development of psychologists' ideas about the most appropriate forms of psychological interventions needed after natural disasters. The second section considers how far China has gone to date in developing its psychological intervention response plan for disasters. This is followed by some comments based on personal experience of attending the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake in 2008. Finally, there are some reflections about what might be useful for Chinese psychologists' and counsellors' future planning for post-disaster interventions in China.
