Abstract
Over the last decade, mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches to mental training have been widely applied in the field of sport psychology. In order to develop a context-sensitive mindfulness and acceptance-based training program for Chinese athletes, the Mindfulness-Acceptance-Insight-Commitment (MAIC) program was developed. The MAIC is based on the Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment approach (MAC) and includes integrated elements of indigenous Chinese culture such as the acceptance-based adversity coping, social-oriented values, and insight. The current article will briefly revisit and discuss the theoretical considerations, the main components, the applications and reflect on the MAIC program.
