Abstract

The paramount step in medical management is the elimination of the alcoholism most commonly associated with this disorder, Dr. Finlayson says. When control of pain is no longer feasible medically, surgical treatment is indicated. Dr. Puestow presents a patient operated by pancreaticojejunostomy—but not until years had passed in which cholecystectomy and cessation of drinking failed to yield the desired results.
