Notes

1. In a recent example, a number of predominantly Black and Latinx environmental justice advocacy groups helped to sink the possible nomination for EPA Administrator of longtime California Air Resources Board Chairperson Mary Nichols, much to the frustration and disappointment of those who supported her work on climate policy. While quite popular with many environmentalists, she was criticized for failing to fully incorporate equity concerns into California’s climate plan.
