Catherine Charrett

Catherine Charrett is Senior Lecturer in Global Politics at the University of Westminster. Catherine researches and teaches on anticolonial resistance, indigenous sovereignty and policing with a focus on Palestinian politics. Catherine has published a book The EU, Hamas and the 2006 Palestinian Elections: A Performance in Politics (2019) and several journal articles on these topics, such as ‘Ritualised securitisation: The European Union’s failed response to Hamas’s success’ (2018). Catherine’s interdisciplinary and queer approach to research was supported by the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) and led to the production of two performance pieces: Sipping Toffee with Hamas in Brussels (2019) and The Vein, the Fingerprint Machine and the Automatic Speed Detector (2020). Catherine is the academic freedom officer for the European International Studies Association (EISA).
