Special issue on SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) for Coastal and Ocean Engineering

This special issue portrays several latest developments and applications of SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) for Coastal and Ocean Engineering. SPH is a well-known Lagrangian meshfree or particle method, which has substantial potential to reliably simulate complex physical phenomena. The progress in advancement of SPH and its corresponding particle methods, has been remarkable, especially during the past few years.

This special issue comprises of seven excellent papers from internationally renowned SPH experts, presenting advanced numerical wave flumes founded on state-of-the-art of SPH technology for reliable reproductions of various important phenomena corresponding to Coastal or Ocean Engineering. The special issue covers topics ranging from complex wave–structure interactions (including those related to wave energy converters, porous structures, offshore floating structures), swash morphodynamics, wave transformations, and scouring.

We hope that this special issue would provide valuable information for scientists and engineers, and would shed light for continued future developments for further advancement and application of SPH for Coastal and Ocean Engineering. We would also like to express our gratitude to all contributing authors, as well as reviewers who kindly cooperated in performing thorough and timely reviews.
