Men at Risk in a Global World—Challenges for a Transnational Social Work

Abstract

This article addresses transnational social work with men at risk. It seeks to draw attention to the needs of both men in a transnationally constructed world, and men whose lives are transnational, by beginning to focus increased energy on resolving the many complex biopsychosocial dilemmas that they face. It explores the changing conceptions of masculinity and how these apply to men in relationship to globalization. It presents case examples that illustrate how masculinities are implicated in the lives of real men. Lastly, it briefly explores social work practice with at risk transnational men.
