(Southern) African Postcolonial Biblical Interpretation: A White African Perspective

ABSTRACT

Considering postcolonial biblical scholarship in (Southern) Africa from a white African perspective introduces whiteness discourse, which in turn invites consideration of identity politics and othering, and the (often neglected) value of intersectionality. Engaging with existing postcolonial work on the Bible in its various manifestations from a self-consciously white African self-awareness and perspective, I consider the potential and limitations of postcolonial theory and practices for biblical interpretation, in the Global South and particularly on the African continent.
