Abstract
The demand for food has been increasing day by day. In the scenario of the blind use of pesticides and fertilizers, it becomes important to deliver quality food products to individuals. Analytical methods for pesticide analysis are therefore of utmost importance as they provide a snap of crop quality and also assists in proper agricultural practice development. The current report discusses the results obtained in clean-up process optimization by a comparative analysis of the dispersive solid-phase extraction and automated micro solid- phase extraction. A maximum of 44 % of ion-ratio was observed with a potato while 41 % of the same was observed with sweet-potato. Similar results were obtained in the manual and automated cleanup procedure. Apart from these, the recovery observed for analytes in the case of potato and sweet-potato was observed to be a maximum of 110 %. While in the case of the automated cleanup method 110 % recovery was observed for a reduced around 22 analytes. In the case of matrix effects and % RSD analysis, the results obtained with manual and automated clean up were similar. The results obtained suggested that the automated method was comparable to the manual method thereby establishing its applicability to achieve better results.
