Abstract

A spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of PAR in the authentic form or in its pharmaceutical dosage form. The method was based on the reaction of the drug with 1-dimethyl amino naphthalene-5-sulphonyl chloride (dansyl chloride) in an alkaline medium to form a highly yellow fluorescent derivative that was measured at 475 nm after excitation at 345 nm. The method was successfully applied to the authentic powder or Paracetamol® tablets and validated in terms of linearity, precision, trueness, limits of quantitation and limits of detection according to ICH guidelines.
