ABSTRACT
Despite changes in the sexual culture over the last century, research on sexualities remains vulnerable to political controversies. Sexuality researchers and educators have been discredited by their association with a stigmatized topic—sex. Critics frequently charge that the sexual knowledge produced by sexuality scholars is pornographic, and insist that it should be censored, denied funding, or otherwise eliminated.
