Abstract
The current study aimed to validate a new measure of menstrual-related symptoms (Menstrual-Related Symptoms Questionnaire; MRSQ). Participants (N = 577, Mage = 20.56) completed a battery of health-related outcomes including the MRSQ. To examine evidence for construct validity, we examined relations between the MRSQ and related outcomes such as anxiety, depression, and irritability. To examine evidence for criterion validity, we examined whether outcomes of the MRSQ can distinguish between known groups with respect to MRS (e.g., individuals who do/do not meet criteria for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). Results suggest that the MRSQ is valid for measuring self-reported menstrual symptoms.
