About the Guest Editors

Professor James N. Amanze is a Lecturer in Systematic Theology at the University of Botswana. He holds a Diploma in Theology (Makerere University), a Bachelor of Social Science (University of Malawi), a MA in Theology (Oxford University) and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (University of London). From 1994 to 1998, he served as Chairman of the Association of Theological Institutions in Southern and Central Africa (ATISCA) and is currently serving as its Executive Secretary and Treasurer. From 2010 to 2015, he served as Secretary of the World Conference of Associations of Theological Institutions (WOCATI). Professor Amanze also serves as Honorary Rector of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Gaborone, and as Canon Theologian in the Anglican Church Diocese of Botswana; he is responsible for the recrutiment and training of priests in the Diocese. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Boleswa Journal of Theology, Religion and Philosophy. His most recent books include Christian Ethics and HIV/AIDS in Africa (2007) and Biblical Studies, Theology, Religion and Philosophy: An Introduction for African Universities (2010).

Dr. Samuel Kabue is the Executive Secretary for the Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN), which is the World Council of Churches’ program on disability. The main mission of EDAN is to advocate for the inclusion, participation and active involvement of persons with disabilities in the spiritual, social, developmental and structural life of the Church and society. Dr. Kabue holds a Bachelor and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Nairobi, A Special Needs Master of Education degree from the University of Birmingham, England, a Master of Theology (Systematic) from St. Paul's University, Limuru, Kenya and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Serampore University, India. In his career as the EDAN Executive Secretary, he has worked with theological institution associations in Asia, the South Pacific, Africa and Latin America and advocated for and assisted in the introduction of disability studies as a theological concern. Five different books have been published under his guidance as resources to accompany the teaching of disability studies curricula, which have been introduced in many theological institutions that have worked with EDAN.

Dr. Kabue is also involved, internationally, in the disability rights movement and has done much to advocate for the ratification, implementation and monitoring of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. He is also involved in advocacy and training on disability-inclusive development, with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals, which, since 2016, have become the international development framework replacing the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's). He is an Elder in his Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
