Abstract
An introspective look at the illustrative power of field experience, this article makes analogies between field experiences and the larger pursuit of geography research. The setting is the White Mountains of California, but the ideas in this article expand the local experience that informs much larger themes.

Este artículo, que representa una mirada introspectiva al poder ilustrativo que tiene la experiencia de campo, hace analogías entre las experiencias de campo y la más búsqueda de mayor alcance de la investigación en geografía. El escenario son las Montañas Blancas de California, pero las ideas consignadas en el artículo trascienden la experiencia local que informa temas de mayor amplitud.
