In 1982 Mrs Chamberlain (as she was then) and her husband were found guilty of the murder of their baby Azaria in the Australian outback. She was convicted of murder and her husband of being an accessory after the fact. An appeal to the High Court was dismissed. She served more than three years of a life sentence and he was given an 18-month suspended sentence.
