ABSTRACT
Transferring patient cases is an inevitable part of clinical psychology graduate training. The existing research provides some guidance on patient termination and less so on patient transfers per se. As such, there is a need to directly address and further systematize the case transfer process at the clinical, training, and administrative levels. The aim of this article is to provide recommendations for the outgoing and incoming therapists, supervisors, and training clinic administrators. It also proposes a checklist to formalize the case transfer process illustrated with three case examples.
