Abstract
Attention of researchers is increasing toward the synthesis of Nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) due to their intensive applications in different areas of science, such as in medicine, photochemistry, electronics, gas sensing, etc. Present communication thus, is devoted to synthesis of NiO NPs having potential applications. These nanoparticles have been analyzed by XRD, FESEM, UV-visible spectroscopy, EDX, FTIR, BET, DLS, HRTEM to study their crystallography, topography, optical, chemical nature, etc. XRD data confirmed cubic close packed structure of NiO with nano-crystalline nature. Synthesized particles show good photo-catalytic potential with 89% degradation of azo dye, “amido black 10B,” which is comparatively higher than already reported literature. These particles also show enhanced antibacterial activity against gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis) bacterial strains with 31 nm and 25 nm of zone of inhibition respectively as compared to standard drug (chloramphenicol) as well as than that of already reported nanoparticles.
