The Journal is starting a new series which should be, we hope, of great interest to our Canadian Thoracic Society members and all those interested in respiratory health. Indeed, this new initiative proposes a “Year in Review,” which summarizes recent developments in respiratory medicine, highlighting key studies that could lead to changes in clinical practice or confirm current recommendations from Canadian and international guidelines. In each topic area, the authors have been invited to discuss the significance and clinical relevance of the new/emerging data. In light of the many yearly publications on respiratory medicine, we thought it could be useful to ask experts in the field to communicate what they perceive as the most important information gathered in the past year in the field, particularly for clinicians. We hope this annual supplement of the journal, prepared to be available in time for the yearly Canadian Respiratory Conference in April, will be of interest to you.
Acknowledgments
I would like to thank Janet Sutherland, Diane Lougheed, Peter Paré, the authors and the Journal’s Associate Editors for their support to this initiative.
