ABSTRACT

In this research, we report a low-cost and simple synthesis of a Fe3O4-MoS2 core-shell grafted with poly (N-vinylcaprolactam) as a photothermal nanocarrier. The as-prepared nanocarrier exhibits a nanoscale size (70 nm), maximum adsorption capacity (qmax = 3.19 mg g−1), and excellent photothermal characteristics. The release profile was investigated at different temperatures (37 and 50°C) and under NIR laser. The results revealed that 40%, 95% of curcumin were released within 5 h at 37 and 50°C, respectively. Furthermore, data obtained from release experiments under NIR laser reveal that 100% of curcumin was released within 10 min. Thus, the NIR triggered release studies indicate that this NIR-responsive nanocarrier enables increase drug release. The most effective parameters on adsorption were optimized and the maximum adsorption was achieved for contact time 2 min, pH 8, and temperature 37°C. The experimental data have been investigated using the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Redlich-Peterson isotherm models. The Langmuir model fits the experimental data dramatically better than the other isotherm models. Kinetics studies revealed that the adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic.
