ABSTRACT

Dextran ultra-fine nanofiber mats with uniform morphological appearance were fabricated using the electrospinning process. Increasing the solution concentration from 0.5 g.mL−1 to 0.9 g.mL−1 changed the fiber structure from coarse-beaded to a uniform beadless nanofiber mats. Additionally, reducing the feed rate from 1 mL.h−1 to 0.25 mL.h−1 with increasing the spinning distance from 150 to 170 mm generally led to a decrease in the diameters of the fibers. At the end; uniform dextran nanofibers with diameters ≈227 nm fabricated by the systematic modification of the electrospinning process. Crosslinked dextran nanofiber mats represent promising candidates for biomedical and tissue engineering.
