Editorial note

It is a great pleasure to bring this Special Edition of Curriculum Studies in Health and Physical Education to you. Congratulations to Alan Ovens and Eimear Enright for their leadership on the project, and to all those that have contributed to bringing it into being. In keeping with our commitment to critical scholarhip the edition brings together a breadth of insights into the practical and theoretical utility of Physical Literacy and its implications for the discipline of Health and Physical Education. A particular focus of the respective contributions is given to the impact, or potential impact, of Physical Literacy on Health and Physical Education curriculum. As a collective, the edition makes a valuable and timely contribution to this evolving sphere of activity. I anticipate that this collection of papers will become an important point of reference for educators looking to advance their understanding or scholarship around this concept. I trust that you will find the collection engaging and insightful.

I am excited to signpost a follow-up initiative associated with the release of this Special Edition. The Journal Executive are working with the Special Edition editors to mobilise a ‘Meet the Authors’ Webinar. The Webinar will take place on Thursday July 8th at 4.00pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (Melbourne time). The Webinar will bring together authors of the papers presented in the collection for a free-ranging discussion with the editors about the concept of Physical Literacy, drawing on insights from their respective vantage points. The Webinar link will be circulated via social media and on the Journal website.

On behalf of the Editorial Executive, I look forward to continuing to share the workings of the Journal with you throughout the year. Happy reading!
