1. The number of FGS could be larger depending on how the population is defined. Toutkoushian et al. (Citation2018) suggested the number of FGS could be as high as 77%.

2. Large states, in terms of size and population, are not the only ones experiencing significant increases in the FGS. According to Hamilton (Citation2023), Idaho (~22), Delaware (~39%), and Rhode Island (~57%) have the largest increases in FGS student growth.

3. 2023 Fall enrollment data were not fully available when the introduction was submitted for publication.
