On Yang Guorong’s “How to Do Philosophy”

Abstract

In recent years, Professor Yang Guorong of the philosophy department of East China Normal University has systematically reflected on the question of “how to do philosophy,” resulting in a number of papers, books, lectures, and interviews. As philosophy becomes increasingly professionalized and sophisticated, his macro-level examinations of the discipline are much welcomed.

Zhang Hanzhou

Zhang Hanzhou 章含舟 is currently a research assistant in the Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Prior to that, he worked in the Department of Philosophy of Tsinghua University as a research assistant. His research interests include contemporary epistemology, care ethics, analytic aesthetics, and philosophy for children. His major book is On Acquaintance: A Historical and Critical Investigation (China Social Sciences Press, 2023).
